Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the St Vinnie's Community Garden Board. Below are the details of the roles and their responsibilities. Roles with an asterisk (*) are positions that are currently open.

* President - open position
The President shall chair all meetings of the St. Vinnie’s Community Garden and serve as a participating member of any standing committee. He or she shall preside in a fair & impartial manner; shall represent the St. Vinnie’s Community Garden at all appropriate meetings & community functions associated with the local gardening communities; shall serve as the St. Vinnie’s Community Garden’s spokesperson; shall contract with, monitor and review the work of any Contractors having a contractual agreement with the St. Vinnie’s Community Garden. The President or Co-President will also confer with the other Board Officers in developing the meeting agenda and making executive decisions in between the St. Vinnie’s Community Garden Board meetings. He/She shall be responsible for or shall delegate the responsibility of bringing in new leaders and/or members to the St. Vinnie’s Community Garden.
The Vice President shall assist the President in the performance of his/her duties; shall preside over the meetings of the St. Vinnie’s Community Garden and Standing Committees in the absence of the President; shall perform such other duties as the President or Co-President shall assign; and succeed to the Presidency on the death, resignation, or removal of the President or both Co-Presidents.
* Treasurer - open position

The Treasurer shall be the chief financial officer of the St. Vinnie’s Community Garden and shall be responsible for all monies and all records of the same; shall maintain all state‑ and Federal‑mandated finance records and file reports in a timely fashion; shall dispense funds only with the approval of the Board in accordance with adopted policies of the St. Vinnie’s Community Garden; and shall report regularly to The St. Vinnie’s Community Garden Board on the financial activities of The St. Vinnie’s Community Garden.
The Secretary, Acting Secretary or his or her designee shall record all minutes of the St. Vinnie’s Community Garden meetings and make copies of the same available to members; shall be responsible for all official Board correspondence and shall be the custodian for the charter, bylaws and other legal records of the St. Vinnie’s Community Garden; shall maintain the archives of the St. Vinnie’s Community Garden or delegate this to the St. Vinnie’s Community Garden Co-Presidents as necessary; and such other duties as may be assigned by the President or Co-President.
Communication Coordinator or his or her designee shall coordinate electronic and printed communications related to routine garden related activities. With Board approval of non-template or non-routine communications, the Communications Coordinator will work closely with necessary Garden Leadership to assure a consistent message about what is happening related to the Garden. The Communication Coordinator will work closely with the Board, especially when communications are not routine and require a Board Spokesperson. The Communications Coordinator will provide a verbal/written report at the Board meeting or at standing committee meetings when necessary.
Garden Manager/Plot Coordinator
Garden Manager/Plot Coordinator or his or her designee shall coordinate or delegate the priority garden related projects. Working closely with the Board, the Construction Coordinator and the Volunteer Coordinator, he or she will help determine and delegate the work day activities, fire pit and other St. Vinnie’s or third party garden events. He or she will also be responsible for collecting lease fees for garden plots and will work closely with the Board and Volunteer Coordinator in reminding Garden Plot Lessees of their quarterly volunteer commitment. The Garden Manager/Plot Coordinator will provide either a written or verbal report at Board meetings.
Construction Coordinator or his or her designee shall coordinator or delegate the priority construction related projects at the garden. Working closely with the Board, the Garden Manager/Plot Coordinator and the Volunteer Coordinator, he or she will work with the above leadership help determine the short and long term construction projects at the garden. Board approval will be required for projects costing over $500. When necessary, the Construction Coordinator will see out other contractors to assist with projects and attain any City of Vallejo permits that might be required to successfully complete any major construction projects. Reports will be provided verbally or in writing at Board Meetings as required.
Volunteer Coordinator or his or her designee shall coordinate all non-Board of Directors recruitment, orientation, training, and acknowledgement of volunteers for work day, fire pit, garden or community events. Working closely with the Garden Manager/Plot Coordinator, Construction Coordinator, Communications Coordinator and Education Coordinator, he or she will promote open positions to the local community and report to the Board of Directors when volunteer projects or positions remain unfilled so the Board can assist in meeting unmet needs. This will include a report to the Board before any major volunteer project occurs as well as a verbal or written report at Board meetings.
* Education Coordinator - open position
Education Coordinator or his or her designee shall coordinate all education workshops sponsored by St. Vinnie’s Community Garden. Working closely with the Board and potential speakers or presenters and other Garden Leadership, he or she will coordinate or delegate the details of promoting, setting up, registering, audio visual, supporting the speaker/presenters and evaluating the educational workshops. The Educational Coordinator will provide a verbal/written report at Board meetings.
